As per tradition, the polar plunge kicks off the 2012 Des Moines Winter Games! With no snow on the ground, and temperatures above freezing, it’s tough for this year’s games to be very winter-like. The weather has actually canceled and postponed many of the activities, with additional events picking up again next weekend.
Even with the unseasonably warm temperatures, Brenton Plaza still opened for ice skating the week before Thanksgiving. We made quick stop by this Saturday, where a couple dozen skaters were enjoying the ice. Look for more images throughout the winter, as the rink gets busier.
We weren’t able to spend nearly as much time as we would have liked to at this year’s 42nd annual National Balloon Classic in Indianola, IA. This event draws balloons, pilots and spectators from all across the nation!
